Justin Corpus-Manalang

PHYSIOTHERAPIST

Justin is a Registered Physiotherapist who graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy in Davao Doctors College in 2014. He worked as a clinician and academician for three years in the Philippines prior to moving to Canada in 2018.

He has worked across many different settings: private clinics, hospitals, and long-term care facilities, and worked with many different conditions and populations. He specializes in working with patients with musculoskeletal and orthopedic conditions and has worked with them at different stages of their recovery process: from pre-operative to post-operative, from acute to chronic.

Justin loves working with his hands to assess and treat his patients. He believes that collaborating with the patient is key to their recovery. Physiotherapy is a two-way street. It should always start and end with the patient, with the therapist guiding their every step.

Outside of work, Justin loves hanging out with friends and family, playing video games or board games, or singing karaoke. He enjoys going for a hike or a run. He also spends a lot of time in the kitchen trying out new recipes. One of his life goals is to travel to as many places as he can.

Michael Malvar

PHYSIOTHERAPIST

Michael “Mike” Malvar is a registered Physical Therapist both here in Canada and in his native country of the Philippines.  He obtained his Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Therapy in 1998 at Unciano Colleges in Antipolo City, Philippines. After obtaining his Bachelor’s Degree, he worked in a hospital for more than two years and afterwards served as a Personal Support Worker classroom and clinical instructor for almost three years before migrating to Canada in year 2006.

Mike obtained his Physiotherapy license in Canada in 2016 and is practicing his profession ever since. He took post-graduate courses and is currently certified in administering Trigger Point Dry Needling, Acupuncture, Cupping and releasing myofascial adhesions using the M2T blade (IASTM). Michael is also certified in assessing and treating Temporo Mandibular Joint Disorder. He treats a variety of Musculo-skeletal and sports related conditions such as lower back pain (e.g. Sciatica and Sacroiliac joint disorder ), neck and upper back pain, rotator cuff tendonitis, Adhesive Capsulitis (a.k.a. as “Frozen Shoulder”) and Peripheral Neuropathies such as: Carpal Tunnel Syndrome and Thoracic Outlet Syndrome.

Mike truly considers Physical Therapy not only his career but more significantly, his vocation. He always respects the dignity and welfare of his patients regardless of gender, ethnicity, religion and age.  Mike adheres to the fact that conducting a thorough assessment, finding the root cause of the problem and implementing the “active Physiotherapy approach” (utilizing manual therapy and prescribing therapeutic exercises) is much more effective than passive (using modalities/machines).  He truly devotes himself in educating his patients about their condition and how to alleviate their pain and symptoms by informing them the do’s and don’ts. He believes this will help his valued patients achieve a pain free life.
